Cultural Music Around the World

Music around the world is very diverse. Different countries have distinct ways of playing music, listening to music, as well as writing music.

African Music:

Music in Africa is very diverse. Some genres of African music is Afrobeat, African hip hop, in addition to traditional music.

Traditional music in Africa is passed down orally. The family doesn’t write down the music, but teach it to the rest of the family. In Sub Saharan music, it relies on percussion instruments of every variety.

African pop music is varied. The contemporary genres music cross with western popular music. Popular music in Africa is like jazz in the united states, but more diverse.

Music in Africa also coordinate with different religions

indian music:

Music of India is very different than most. Genres of Indian music include classical music, filmi, folk music, and Indian pop. Certain religions are related to Indian music, in addition to African.

Carnatic music was first traced to the 14th – 15th centuries AD. It originated in South India during the rule of the Empire of Vijayanagar., Its a melodic with improvised variations, but tends to have more fixed compositions. It has a composition with improvised embellishments added to the piece in the forms of Kalpanaswaram, Raga Alapana, and Tala.

Hindustani music is a tradition diverged from Carnatic music around six-hundred years ago. Ancient Hundi tradidtions and Historical Vedic philosophy and native Indians sounds influenced Hindustani music. This type of music was also enriched by ther persian performance practices of Mughals.

Native american music, or Indigenous music is music that is used, created or performed by Indigenous peoples. The music is usually traditional tribe music of the north american tribes. Popular music of Native Americans  include rock, blues, hip hop, classical, film music, and reggae.

Japanese Music:

Japanese music includes a wide array of performers in both traditional and modern styles.

Traditional folk music of japan have to types. Buddhist chanting and orchestral court music.  Gagaku, or orchestral court music, is a type of classical music that has been performed at the Imperial court for a long time.

J pop is a type of pop music in Japanese culture. Modern J-pop has it roots in the 1960s pop and rock. J pop is defined by new wave bands.

South Korean Music:

South Korean music has changed over the course of the decades after the end of the Korean War. Traditional Korean folk music, popular music or k pop, and Western-influenced non-popular music are just some of the few genres.

K-pop is a music genres originating in South Korea, characterized by the wide variety of audiovisual elements.  Some K-pop bands are EXO, Seventeen, BTS, TWICE, and ShiNee.

 Music of Spain:

Spanish music is often associated with traditional styles such as flamenco and classical guitar. Spanish music has a long history. Diverse Spanish music is associated with stereotypes.

Music of MExico:

The music of Mexico is very diverse and features a wide range of musical genres and performance styles. Likewise, its influenced by man cultures, including the indigenous people of Mexico and Europe.

Mexican music is well known in other countries. Mostly religious music and very simple songs like happy birthday, or feliz navidad.

American Music:

European and African music has influenced American music. Some genres of American music are country, hip hop, pop, rap , jazz, blues, and techno.

Broadway music has been around for a couple decades. Broadway is a group of theaters specializing in musicals.

Music Festivals around the world:

Music festivals are a place to enjoy music with others who have common taste in music with you. But be careful, they can get dangerous.

Some of the most popular music festivals are Bestival, Field Day, Latitude, Coachella, Sydney Festival, and Rock in Rio.


Music is a big cultural mixing pot. People can listen, make, write, and read music differently. Cultural, traditional, pop culture, rap, jazz, and other genres are part of music. Every country has their own music, whether its religion, or pop, its all what brings the world together.
