Energy into a solid mass
In nuclear reactions, typically only a small fraction of the total mass–energy of the bomb converts into the mass. One way to convert all the energy within matter into usable energy is to annihilate matter with antimatter. When a high energy photon collides with an atomic nucleus producing an electron, the two particles have very high velocities and separate quickly. They can recombine into another photon. Although to make a small mass you would need a huge amount of energy.
When does energy turn into a solid mass?
Energy turns into a mass only when the energy forms in a big enough mass to make a massive particle. If you heat up a gas, the heat weighs on a scale. If you burn some paper and let the heat in it escape, the escaping heat makes the combustion products weigh less than if they were to stay hot, and if you seal up a nuclear bomb, let it explode, and keep all the products and heat inside the box, the box has the same total mass before and after the explosion. Energy does have a mass even when it is not in a solid form.
Is matter a form of energy?
Matter is the stuff of the universe. Like the atoms, molecules and ions that make up all physical substances. Matter is anything that has mass and takes up space. Matter has a wide variety of things and objects that it is describing and grouping.
You can turn energy into matter
Albert Einstein was a famous scientist that discovered a formula for turning energy into matter. He figured out that mass and energy are closely related to each other. Atom bombs and nuclear reactors are practical examples of the formula working in one direction, turning matter into energy. Albert Einstein once said that, “Previous experiments have always required a little bit of mass, even if it was only an electron’s worth.” Atom bombs and nuclear reactors have an influence on the formula working to turn matter into energy.

How matter and energy the same
The same effect occurs with quantum particles, and not just with light. A neutron, for example, can decay into a proton, electron and anti-neutrino. The mass of these three particles is less than the mass of a neutron, so they each get some energy as well. Energy and matter are really the same thing even though it may not seem like they are even closely related.
Other forms of energy
There are many types and forms of energy. Potential energy is any type of stored energy. Examples of potential energy are, chemical, nuclear, gravitational, or mechanical. Another form of energy is kinetic energy, this energy is found in movement. Other forms are nuclear, motion, thermal energy and temperature, elastic, chemical and gravitational. There are many types and forms of energy.
Turning light into matter
Bruit and Wheeler suggested that the easiest way to convert light into matter is by smashing only two particles of light. Light particles are also called photons. They never thought that anyone would actually pay attention and listen or read about their ideas. They would have to use a hot laser to heat up the electrons to just under the speed of light. After they would make the photons from the two sources colliding. Turning light into matter is very hard and takes time but it is possible.
Turning energy into matter can happen with many types of energy like light. It is not as easy thing to do. Scientists like Albert Einstein have taken a lot of time and effort in working towards turning energy into matter. Turning energy into matter is a complicated process and hard process. When energy is turned into matter it takes a lot to actually happen. You would need a huge amount of energy to make a small amount of matter.
